APPEASMENT

1. i think that the european nations tried supper hard to avoid another war beacuse they were already behind on the reperations from the last one and it would cost alot of money not to mention soldiers...
2."Hitler claimed he was uniting all German speaking people in one ‘greater Germany’." this is directly from the download... and it says that 'Hitler claimed that untiing all the germen peoples would make a better nation.
3.the part of czechloslovakia where most germens speakers lived was the sudeten land.
4.Germany couldnt take over czechloslovakia because one Czechoslovakia was a powerful new country and two had the backing of the Soviet Union.
5."Chamberlain, Hitler, Daladier (French PM) andMussolini (leader of Italy) all met in Munich to discuss Czechoslovakia." a. The countries of britan france germany and italy were all invited to the Munich conference...
b.I think that czecho should have been invited beacuse after all its thier country...
6."It was decided that Germany would occupy the Sudetenland within 10 days and other parts of Czechoslovakia would go to Poland and Hungary." this is what was decided in Munich...
7."Chamberlain was congratulated in Britain for avoiding war. Britain and France had given in to Hitler’s demands, but in return Hitler had promised to not take over any more land.' these are a few reasons of why they gave into germany...
8.Chamberlin was pelaesed and was very proud that 4 huge world powers agreed on a difficult situation of giving germany land...
9.churchill thinks that this agreement will ultimitly become thier downfall... if they dont fight back germany will just win even if not though politics...
10.I think that most people in the sudetenland liked this agreement because they'd be a part of a huge nation that will have power and are very nationalistic... but i think that the other parts of czecho really didnt like this because it made thier country smaller and giving up part of thier country was a major catylst for the country's downfall...
BONOUS QUESTION:
The policy of appeasement was most certainly not justified because appeasment is to keep a coun try from doing what wasnt wanted and the eoupean countries didnt want germeny to rise to a pwoer wich in the end they did because germeny cheated and was not satisfiedy with just a part of land... they wanted a Greater Germany...

FACSISM

"Fascism conceives of the State as an absolute, in comparison with which all
individuals or groups are relative, only to be conceived of in their relation to the State."
and
"For the execution of all of this we demand the formation of a strong central power
in the Reich. Unlimited authority of the central parliament over the whole Reich and its
organizations in general."
these both resemble the same thing... they both want to have a strong central government and a nationalistic society...

"We demand freedom of religion for all religious denominations within the state so
long as they do not endanger its existence or oppose the moral senses of the Germanic
race."
and
"but leaves a sufficient margin of liberty to the
individual; the latter is deprived of all useless and possibly harmful freedom, but retains
what is essential; the deciding power in this question cannot be the individual, but the
State alone."
these two show that both governments are willing to let thier people have as much freedom as they can as long as their freedom stays within the bounries that dont impeed on the greater good of society.

"Peoples which are rising, or rising again after a period of decadence, are always imperialist; and
renunciation is a sign of decay and of death."
and
"We demand struggle without consideration against those whose activity is injurious to the general interest. Common national criminals, usurers, Schieber and so forth are to be punished with death, without consideration of confession or race."
these two show that thoes who defy the nation and its ideas shall be put to death for any treasonous affairs with out trial.

"the materialist conception of history of human civilization can be explained simply through the conflict of interests among the various social groups and by the change and development in the means and instruments of production."
and
"We demand that the state be charged first with providing the opportunity for alivelihood and way of life for the citizens. If it is impossible to sustain the total population of the State, then the members of foreign nations (non-citizens) are to be expelled from the Reich."
These both show that neither country want to have conflicts within thier society so thier solution is to discriminate.

"All citizens must have equal rights and obligations.'
and
"follows that the existence of an unchangeable and unchanging class-war is also denied - the natural progeny of the economic conception of history. And above all Fascism denies that class-war can be the preponderant force in thetransformation of society."
These both show how Italy and Germany didnt want class struggles and wanted them to have equal rights...

1. i think that nazism would appeal more to adolecence at the time because most kids werent allowed to get an education and in Nazism they'd be allowed to get one no matter if they were really poor or really rich...
2. i thinkn that it would be the hardest to not have any real opinion in the government because it controls everything and i also think that itd be hard to only do things that were the best for the state and not best for yourself even if it hurt you...
3.i think itd be the hardest to make everyone turn on the outsiders and jews... also to give up thier religion if it conflicted with the nazi ideals...

WWI PARIS CONFERENCE Q'?'S

David lloyd George was the represenataive for Britian in the Big Four. He also played a large part at the Paris Peace conference. He had a large influence on the French and Us repersentatives. His ideas were based on the plan to bring down communism and to stop it fron spreading. also he wanted votes from his people so that he'd be relceted.also viewd treaty as a faliure and thought another ww would start shortly after.

Georges Clemenceau was the rep. for France and all of his ideas were very harsh. france wanted Alsace-Lorraine back and thier goal was to run the germans into the ground. they wanted Germany to have no power whatsoever and to pay for all of the reperations that we needed. he got into tiffs with US rep also.

Woodrow Wilson had the Germans sign an armistice which ended the WWI on november 11 1918. he also wrote his fourteen points and presented them to congress which were an attempt to stop futer war and keep the peace. also he thought that the Treaty was too harsh and strayed too far from his 14 points.

Article 173 stated that Germany could no longer have a draft and only thoes who voluntiered could join. this was important bc it made the weaker and less of a threat to other countries... but it pissed them off a bit tooo...

Article 227 stated tthat the Whilhem was to be put to trial and the judges would be from the big Four. Also that the new government would be the Weimar republic which was meant to destroy GErmany even more.

Article 231 states that Germany accepts full responsibility for destroying the Allie's countries. and this really annoyed and agravated the Germans because they had to admit they started the war. also they had to soley pay for all of the damages w/o help from other countries...

1. Woodrow Wilson's main goal was to make peace. he wanted no more war and freedom with trade. He wanted Freedom within the economy and between countries so that another war would not break out. so to prevent this he helped with the idea for The League of Nations.

2.George Clemenceau's main goal was to run Germany into the Ground as far as they could. His ideas were very harsh toward the GErmans and he also wanted to regian the land that was 'stolen from the french by the Germans.

3.David Lloyd George's goal was to bring down communism. this was his public view bc he wanted to get relected. Because Germany was where some main communists were hiding was why he wanted Germany to suffer...

4. the U.S. didnt think that it was neccessary to invole itself in international political affairs that werent completely imparative to be part of. they would rther like to be isolated from all the drama if iy doesnt concern them. so in the end the US never joined the League.

5.article 231 enrager many Germany (ie Hitler) because they did not want to admit that they were at fault for the WWI. so they would later start up another WW. WWII would end up starting because of the German fuirry!

CASUALITIES OF WWI

1. it think that russia and germany took the whole assasination thing tooo far. yeah i think that the aliances should come to help thier fellows and come to thier aid...but there are certain reasons and circumstances which a country should not intervine...like when it will end up bringing more countries in and starting a massive war!

2. ther ewas a huge river running through it which could allow many enemies easy acess to the inside also it boarded the sea and many other countries like bosnia.

3. the psyche of the soldiers was probably that they didnt want to die or they were too afraid to betray thier country and become captured. or they couldve all been too scared to fight in the war that they thought they might loose because they had not focused enough on thier own revolution of thier country and they didnt have enough new machinery and weapons to keep up with the other counrties. this could later have influenced the russian revolution...

4.the mobilization of the troops says that they are here to fight and are serious about winning this war! they didnt want to loose and even though italy had been in the war longer they had been switching sdes and were at one point neutral... so the fact that italy had less troops doesnt surprise me expecially because they may have suffered enough caluaslities that they couldnt handle anymore...

5.The allies won this war because they had more troops at thier despense. unlike the others who couldnt keep bringing in new force when they lost great 3's of them...

6.I think that the casualites coudld have been avoided and many lives couldve been saved rather than just going to war they shouldve at leats tried to negotiate... there is always another option... not just war, plus it got to be super duper expensive and that couldve plundged many more countries into debt if the allies hadnt done the versallies treaty... also the chart tells me that even thought the allies had more reineforcements they still had mucho casualites...

WWI letter

Dear mom and dad,

Today I was sent to the front. The Russians just dropped out of the fight and now more Germans are headed to our front. The trench between countries was huge and the Generals kept yelling, "keep your heads down or you wont have 'em any more!" Frans got caught in no mans land today, he will never see another sun rise from the horizon. We move a couple hundred yards forward each day and acouple hundred fall never to rise again. We just got news that the Americans were comming and the men's hopes have risen. They intercepted a telegraph from the Germans and thank the Lord in Heaven they did. Our men were loosing faith in this war, but we are now a shoe in to defet thoes germans. That one slip up Sure did save our sorry behinds. Us doughboys are really amazed that the americans didnt join up earlier even after that ship, the Lusitania sunk with 128 Americans on board from thoes axis u-boats. I cannot belive that Woodrow Wilson wanted to stay isolated from the war... and that it took his presidentcy being threatend to join in... I miss you guys with all my heart and I am just awaiting the day when i get to see your faces again. I see men everyday fall and I think about how many families will never know. So many of my friends have been killed. I am not afriad to join them, its just a matter of how and when that scares me. I pray every day that my tank holds up and that the gas misses our camp... the thought of comming home to you all is what keeps me going everyday...

Your son,
Pierr

simulation Q's

too historical accuracies were the rules and allowing belgium to go first. the conditions were similar because who ever got there first colonized it and the countries with bigger regions colonized more.

the advantages were that we had tons of people. but we didnt have as many as the winning class... also we colonized tinyer colonies while they did bigger ones.

are group yelled and txted and had people running back and froth to tell us where to go next... this was somewhat similar because the countries had no direct way of contact just through messengers and telegraphs.

i dont remember interacting with any of the other colonies because i'd be the one waiting in the colony

i learned that the bigger the country the more it will colonize. and this really gave me a good quick understanding about what the chapter to come would be like...

i think it wwas reallly great just the way it was... i think that we should complete a task while we are colonizing to show that we won over the colony or something like that...

EXTRA CREDIT!!!

1. the british thought of themselves as the more noble and better than the africans because they had God on thier side. so they thought that they were the better race. and that since God gave them the ablility to overtake this culter they fel the need to rule over it and make africa just like themselves. thier perception that the africans wanted to be just like the British i think was wrong because they didnt seem to like the colonization and they were fine without them...

2. harry is questioning the idea of coloinization because he doesnt understand why they need to overtake the desert for the Queen. he looks at it differently because he didnt want to be in the army in the first place so he isnt blindly folowing whatever he is told. his questioning leads him to discharge...

3. this quote says that the lands that they are colonizing are very corupted and that theya re very violent.the soldiers got to look forward to getting shot at and the fact that they underestimated the africans they would soon be defeated.

4. this says that the people there dont understand what the values of these british and the only thing that they know is that the little piece of gold is worth something to the british so they want it too. the british thought that they had the right to change the people because they were the better race.

5. abu means that the english think they are too awesome for everyone else. harry is thought of as a typical english men but is given more respect by abu. i do think that he agrees somewhat or else he wouldnt have fought for them.

6. the boy didnt folow jack's order because he knew he'd get shot and he didnt want to give in to them. i do think he knew he would die. i think that he wasnt because the people then through rocks at him. i would've done the same thing to protect my fellow men. i think jack felt like crap after shooting him. yes. i think it was for a larger reason like that at anytime people could be killed and taken over by these people...
